It is more common in women and it is estimated that 60 million Americans over the age of 50 are currently living with this condition.
  • Heart Disease- Did you know that heart disease is the number one cause of death in seniors today? It is a chronic condition and while it is slightly more common in men, it is very prevalent in women 65 and older as well. Adopting a healthy lifestyle, exercising, sleeping, and eating well can all lessen your chances of getting heart disease and help current symptoms like high blood pressure and high cholesterol stay under control.

  • Falls- Falls are actually the number one reason that seniors end up in the hospital. They can lead to serious injury or even death. Seniors should always be implementing fall prevention techniques that help keep them safe both inside and outside the home.
  • The Flu- While the flu may not seem like a big deal to the average younger adult, it can be deadly to seniors. It can cause hospitalization or even death. This is why senior healthcare providers recommend every senior gets a flu shot annually.
  • Depression- The number of seniors currently battling depression today is growing at a rapid rate. Depression cannot only impact a senior’s quality of life but compromise their health and immune system as well.
