Weight loss affects psychological health at any age. If you are in a comfortable weight for you, then the world around you will seem different to you. Using Anne Hagerty as an example, we will tell you how to lose 6 kilograms and start a new life.
The 61-year-old star got on the Get Me Out of Here show, where she limited herself to rice and salt. According to her, this was the reason for the loss of 6 kg.
“I can have beans, I can have rice and beans but I am having no more rice because it is just going straight through.
“So since then, I’ve not had rice by itself. It just went straight through me.” You have heard about the dangers and abuse of salt and sugar more than once, but we will try to explain this a little deeper.
How salt and sugar affect weight loss
Despite the fact that salt has no calories, it can significantly affect weight. The calorie content of sugar is 390. But why are they put in one row?
Salt-free diets promise a quick drop in a few pounds in a short time. By depriving our body of salt, we lose the fluid that the salt held. In order to lose weight and stay healthy without returning the weight back – do it gradually. Salt consists of two components: sodium and chlorine. Sodium is necessary for metabolism, it retains fluid in the cells. Chlorine is an important part of gastric juice. With a complete rejection of salt, the body loses not only liquid but also such useful elements as potassium and magnesium. The lack of these elements leads to problems with the cardiovascular and nervous systems.
The most important thing is to feel the balance when your body has enough salt, and only then reduce its amount. Doctors recommend consuming no more than 2.4 g per day. But science proves that for the normal functioning of the body, 0.4-0.8 g is enough for it, on average an ordinary person consumes 3.5 g per day.
It is important to remember that not only the salt that we add to food but also the dishes that we eat in the restaurant, in processed foods, fast food, cheeses, etc., enter the body. You will not be able to fully control salt intake, but you can approach this more consciously.
It is not recommended to refuse salt sharply, this is fraught with unpleasant consequences. For example, you can trigger a hypertensive crisis. If you stop eating salt at once, you will not feel the taste of the food, and you will feel a little. Because of this, it is very easy to become a victim of overeating and then you will not achieve your goal – to lose weight.
Talk about sugar?
Sugar is a pure carbohydrate that no longer contains any additives and instantly breaks down in the gastrointestinal tract. Glucose is absorbed into the blood, releasing a huge supply of energy. Part of this energy will go into metabolism, and the unspent excess will turn into fat. The norm of sugar consumption is 50-60g per day, at the moment when the average person consumes more than 100g. Again, it’s not only about sugar that you add in spoons to coffee, but also that found in fruits, vegetables, buns, soda, etc.
The harm from sugar when losing weight is not limited only to calories, sweet foods cause a false feeling of hunger. To neutralize the loading dose of glucose, the pancreas releases insulin, which lowers blood sugar, and the deceived body again feels hunger.
If you really like sweets, replace cakes with dried fruits. Their difference is that they are rich in fructose, which, unlike glucose, has a lower glycemic index, breaks down three times slower and therefore does not cause sudden jumps in the blood sugar level in the body.
Remember that you should not abuse dried fruits, as they are quite high in calories (from 215 to 390).
